all you have to do is drag the Drum Rack folder to new MIDI track) Right Click new Audio Clip and choose "slice to new MIDI track" (i use a Drum Rack preset. hit the gray circular record button on the clip of the new Audio track and it should record automatically - now you have an AUDIO CLIP of the MIDI clip- you may have to adjust params very slightly, i get a very small micro-gap at the beginning of the clip, just zoom and pull warp marker up a little. Arm new Audio track (REC button)- play audio clip and it's now routed to the new track Route your "Audio To" on track WITH clip to new Audio track (new Audio track will be listed) this is how you can slice/chop a sample to a certain BPM and KEEP the SAME BPM after you slice it! you have to convert the MIDI clip to an AUDIO clip, then back to a MIDI clip:

I finally figured out how to do it this morning after about a month. i chop, slice to midi, and it puts them directly on to a preset Drum Rack i created (this is handy so you can have set release times, vol, etc.). i have an Akai MPD24 controller pad and use the Drum Rack instrument.
I'm new to ableton (7) and i've been recording and chopping samples. I can't figure out how to get a smoother control.ĭefinitely curious to know how you all are getting your chopping done, if you're not using the MPC. that's too easy) but say you have a long sample that you want chopped into 8 pieces, and it's not a perfect loop? Do you guys use Session View clips without warping on to chop? Or do you drop the sample in a Drum Rack slot/pad and edit using Simpler? I know Simpler's loop/end/start can be automated with macros, but that doesn't help much because even if I do, when I turn the knobs, I don't get a smooth/fine control. What is your fastest chopping workflow (NOT counting Slice-To-Midi. I seriously doubt it's possible, but god would it be a great addition in future versions of Live. I would like to somehow automate this process. the arrows pointing to the right and left. Have any of you guys figured out how to automate start/end points (and I'm not talking about the loop start/end points I mean the MAIN sample start/end points. kayne is the worst rapper in the world and that whole voice flanger effect needs to die) This looks like the funnest daw outīy the way Im going to be using live to do mostly sample based hip hop.(not the pop stuff.

The only problem is I run dual boot, with no internet on the windows partition(the one im running live on).īut I've copied anything that looks like will help on the tips list, and transfered it to my os shared folder. I used an mpc for a year or so, like 4 years ago(I had it down pretty good). Then I would like to load the to something controlling midi, that I can pencil in or record live with the computer keyboard(it will be like 2 weeks till I get a controller and an after market sound card). Name them, separate them from the original.
It looks like I'm going to have a little bit of a learning curve.īasically I have a few songs I want to chop a couple of samples out of.
Hey guys I'm new here, and brand new to live.
